Why We Quit Facebook Groups (Except Our Own)

We’ve officially ditched most Facebook groups—and honestly? It feels so good.

For a while, we tried. We joined WLW spaces, sapphic chats, and dating-related communities hoping to find connection, promote TSL, and support queer women online. But what did we find instead?

Drama. So. Much. Drama.

The same arguments, gatekeeping, and toxic energy over and over again.

Fake profiles and spam.

Bots, catfish, and people who clearly weren’t there for the right reasons.

BS rules and power trips.

Mods playing favourites, deleting posts with no explanation, or letting hate slide as long as it fit their narrative.

We realized something important:

We don’t need to beg for space in groups that don’t actually want us there.

That’s why from now on, we’re keeping it simple.

We’ll only post to our own Facebook group, run by us—real queer women who actually care.

No drama. No fake profiles. No BS.

Just a safe, chill, and sapphic space for those who want it.

Want in?

Come join the only group we trust:

? The Sapphic Library Facebook Group

Let’s build something better—together. ?

What Does “Sapphic” Mean, Anyway?

You’ve probably seen the word Sapphic pop up a lot lately—especially here at TSL. But what does it actually mean?

Sapphic is a beautiful, inclusive word used to describe women who love other women. That includes lesbians, bisexual women, pansexual women, queer women, and anyone who identifies with loving or being romantically attracted to women—regardless of specific labels. ?

The word comes from Sappho, a famous poet from the Greek island of Lesbos (yes, that’s where the word lesbian comes from too!). Sappho wrote passionate poetry about her love and admiration for other women—and her name has lived on as a symbol of WLW (women-loving-women) love for centuries.

At TSL, Sapphic isn’t just a word—it’s our vibe. It means romance, connection, identity, community. It’s soft, strong, and proudly queer.

So when we say we’re a Sapphic space, we mean this:

You are welcome here.

You are seen here.

You are safe to love, flirt, date, or just be you—here. ?

Why Do Men Sign Up to Lesbian Dating Apps?

At TSL, we’ve heard it all. “Why are there men on here?” “Isn’t this supposed to be a safe space for women-loving-women?” And honestly — yes, it is. That’s why we built TSL with vetting tools, real human checks, and community moderation. But it begs the question: why are men trying to get in?

Here’s a look at the most common reasons — and why it’s such a problem.

---

1. Fetishization & Invasion

Some men are driven by a fantasy: the idea that lesbian or bisexual women exist for their viewing pleasure. They’re not here to make friends — they’re here to insert themselves into sapphic spaces, usually with crude intentions.

It’s not flattering. It’s not welcome. It’s gross.

---

2. Catfishing, Scams & Deception

Men pretending to be women, using stolen photos, fake names, and tragic backstories — all to exploit genuine users. Whether for money, attention, or manipulation, lesbian spaces have increasingly become targets for catfishers and scammers.

That’s why TSL verifies all suspicious profiles.

---

3. The Infamous “Unicorn Hunters”

Some men (and straight couples) are on the hunt for a bisexual woman to “spice up” their relationship. So they hop onto lesbian apps looking for someone to join their bedroom.

No thanks. This is not your fantasy playground.

---

4. Ignorance or Entitlement

Some men just don’t get it — or they don’t want to. They think every dating app is fair game, or worse, that they’re entitled to be wherever they please. They ignore the fact that WLW spaces exist specifically to avoid this kind of male intrusion.

---

5. Closeted, Questioning, or Misguided

Not all men who sign up are malicious. Some are navigating gender identity, others are unsure of their sexuality. While we believe in compassion, WLW spaces still require respect, honesty, and clarity. Queer women deserve that.

---

That’s Why TSL Exists.

TSL is built by sapphics, for sapphics. Every sign-up is reviewed, and profiles that don’t belong get suspended or flagged. We’re here to protect real women-loving-women — not make space for male egos, scams, or creeps.

✨ Your safety, your space, your TSL.

Real Women. Real Love. No Pretending.

Why profile vetting matters more than ever

Let’s be real: dating apps have a problem. Fake profiles. Catfishing. Men pretending to be women in WLW spaces.

It’s exhausting, and worse — it’s unsafe.

At The Sapphic Library, we take that seriously. That’s why every single profile is reviewed. We don’t let just anyone in. You deserve to know that the woman you're talking to is exactly who she says she is.

---

We Vet Because We Care

Safety isn’t a bonus feature. It’s the foundation. Our verification process helps filter out scammers, catfishers, and people who don’t belong in sapphic spaces.

We’re not here for numbers. We’re here for trust.

---

It’s Not About Policing — It’s About Protecting

This isn’t about gatekeeping. It’s about preserving a space where queer women can show up honestly, confidently, and without fear of being exploited.

---

You Deserve Real

Real women. Real connection. Real love — with no games, no fake profiles, and no guessing.

That’s what we’re building. And that’s what makes The Sapphic Library different.

Coming Out Later in Life: You’re Not Late — You’re Right on Time

For every woman who took the scenic route

Not everyone comes out as a teen. Some of us spend years — even decades — figuring it out. And that’s okay.

If you’re discovering your attraction to women later in life, you are not behind. You are not broken. You’re simply arriving at yourself on your own terms.

---

You’re Not Alone

So many women start exploring their identity after marriage, after children, or after years of trying to "fit in." You’re not too old. You’re not too late. You’re just finally being honest — and that’s powerful.

---

Dating Can Feel New (Because It Is)

It’s normal to feel nervous or unsure. You might not know all the “rules” — or even where to begin. That’s where safe, inclusive spaces like The Sapphic Library come in. Here, you can take your time, ask questions, and meet women who understand.

---

Curiosity Is Enough

You don’t need a label to deserve connection. Whether you're just curious or fully out, your story belongs here. You belong here.

---

This Is Your Time

Coming out later in life doesn’t mean you've missed anything. It means you're finally giving yourself what you deserve: truth, joy, and love.

For every woman ready to start her sapphic chapter — no matter when it begins.

What Safe Dating Really Looks Like for Queer Women

Because love should never come with fear

If you're a woman who loves women, you’ve probably had moments of feeling unsafe while dating online. You’re not alone — and it’s not your fault.

Most dating platforms weren’t built for us. They allow cishet men to sneak into “WLW” spaces. They ignore safety. They leave queer women to fend for themselves.

Here’s what real safety looks like in sapphic dating:

---

1. Profile Verification

You shouldn’t have to guess if someone is real. At The Sapphic Library, we vet every sign-up — because your time and trust are valuable.

2. No Cishet Men Allowed

This space is just for sapphics. We don’t allow cishet men to lurk, pretend, or sneak in. Period.

3. Moderation that Actually Works

If someone’s behavior feels off, we act on it. You won’t be ignored here.

4. A Culture of Respect

It’s not just about rules — it’s about community. This platform is built by and for queer women who care about each other.

---

You Deserve Better

Dating should feel exciting, not dangerous. Safe, not stressful. Sapphic, not performative.

That’s what we’re building at The Sapphic Library.

Find love where you’re truly safe to be yourself.

Sapphic Dating Tips for Newbies

A gentle guide for women loving women

New to sapphic dating? You’re not alone — and you’re in the right place. Whether you’re freshly out, questioning, or just dipping a toe into the WLW world, we’ve got you.

Here are a few simple tips to help you feel confident, safe, and seen as you start your sapphic journey:

---

1. It’s Okay to Be Nervous

Butterflies? Totally normal. Many women explore sapphic love later in life or after years of suppressing it. Take your time. You don’t need all the answers — just curiosity and honesty.

2. Say What You’re Looking For

Flirting is fun, but clarity is powerful too. Want friendship? Romance? A serious relationship? Let people know. Sapphic connections can be deep — make sure your vibe matches theirs.

3. Set Boundaries Early

Don’t be afraid to say no. Whether it’s to a certain kind of conversation or a rushed timeline, boundaries protect your peace. Respect yours — and others’.

4. Don’t Compare Yourself

Some women have dated many women. Others are brand new. It’s all valid. You don’t need to “prove” your queerness — you just need to be yourself.

5. Find a Safe Space

Not all platforms are safe for queer women. That’s why we built The Sapphic Library — a dating app that actually protects WLW. No cishet men. No nonsense. Just real sapphic connection.

---

Final Thoughts

You deserve love that feels like coming home. Flirty, deep, sweet, bold — whatever your sapphic flavor, there’s space for you here.

Why We Built The Sapphic Library

A message from our founders

In a world full of dating apps, most were never built with us in mind. As queer women, we've often been an afterthought — or erased entirely.

That’s why we created The Sapphic Library: a dating space made exclusively for women who love women.

What Makes Us Different

We were tired of:

– Fake WLW profiles
– Cis men invading women-only spaces
– Feeling unsafe, unseen, or unwelcome

So we changed the rules.

At The Sapphic Library:

– No cishet men allowed
– Every profile is vetted by real people
– We welcome lesbians, bi women, pan women, questioning women, and sapphic souls of all kinds
– It’s about genuine connection in a truly safe space

Why “Library”?

Because every woman has a story.

And here, your story matters.

This isn’t just another swipe app.
It’s a space where you can feel seen, wanted, and celebrated — no matter where you are on your journey.

Proudly Canadian. Truly Global.

Built in Canada.
Built by women.
Built for Sapphics everywhere.

Whether you're newly out, rediscovering yourself, or ready for something real — welcome home.
